The%20Way%20Out%20Is%20Through

As most of you know I recently unveiled the new project that I've been working on, The Way Out Is Through, and the subsequent release of Bandages, it's debut EP. In the process of promoting the album I was wracking my brains for ways to make sure that this project is easily accessible to everyone, and that I have the easiest means possible to find new listeners while hanging onto / keeping track of / informing whatever audience I might alright have.

Most of you may have guessed by now that I'm probably going to ask you to join our mailing list, and you'd be right. But before you roll your eyes at this, and exit out to go do whatever else you were doing I would like to promise a few things that I will NOT do. You see, most bands (in my experience) tend to misuse their mailing list as a means to keep people up to date on every. single. waking. inane. detail. about the bands' existence. Random things like "Billy got a new bass amp!" and "We have a new show on xxx date!". This is what most people think of when they are asked to join a mailing list, and thus the reasons why 99% of people (myself included) NEVER sign up for mailing lists.

I believe that if you want to know when a show is, you'll go to our Myspace or our Reverbnation. If you want to be kept up on every single detail about the band, as it's occurring, you'll sign up for our Twitter. Point being you're an adult, and you know what's important to you. I don't, so I'm not going to inundate you with information that you might find useless.

Here's what I will not do...
- I will not waste your time on tiny stupid details about The Way Out Is Through.
Ex. "Dan thought this youtube video was really cool so we want to share it with yall!"
- I will never share your email address with anyone.
- I will not send you weekly emails about every single tiny update on the band. If you want to know that kind of information, and if you want to learn about any and all updates about the band the quickest, I highly advise you follow us on Twitter.

Basically, I don't want annoy you. I want you to look forward to hearing from me, and I want you to keep checking us out for show dates and music. We're all adults here and the last thing I want to do is drive you away because I'm constantly saying nothing of great value. This project has just gotten started and while this has been a hell of a start, big news is going to be slow for awhile. Honestly, you probably won't be getting a lot of mail from me.

Here's what I will do....
- You will only receive an email if there is significant news to report. Examples of which include...
    - Free music by The Way Out Is Through.
       - No I'm not going to send an email saying "This is a really cool band! Check out [insert name here]. I might do that
            on Twitter though....
    - Really big shows
       - Ex. Our upcoming show alongside Guster on April 7th!
    - CD Releases
    - Important News
      - Ex. Zach gets pregnant and decides to leave the band.
- If at any given time you want me to stop emailing you I'll remove you from the mailing list immediately.

In summary, I never sign up for the mailing lists of other bands, and I completely understand why your gut reaction might NOT be to sign up for my mailing list. I highly advise you to reconsider in this instance because
A. I won't waste your time.
B. I'll only tell you things that I'm 100% sure you'll be interested in.
C. It will help me track the progress that my band has made and therefore make better decisions about where to play, what to play at what shows, etc.

Thanks kindly for taking the time to read this and if you sign up for TWOIT's mailing list, thanks again for helping us out.
